RANGER STRANGER TPB Kickstarter Is LIVE!!!!

Scout Comics 2nd Official Kickstarter, RANGER STRANGER - COMPLETE TRADE PAPERBACK, Launches  Tuesday April 25th at 11:00am EST!

April 20, 2022 – Scout Comics and Entertainment Holdings, Inc. is proud to announce their second official Scout Comics Kickstarter campaign, RANGER STRANGER! The rapidly growing indie-comics publisher continues to expand their marketing and distribution venues with an initiative that will give the Kickstarter community direct access to some of their most exciting upcoming projects.

Ranger Stranger is about a deranged forest ranger left in charge of the fictional wilderness Hackaneck National Park – a vast BobRossian landscape of breathtaking meadows, lakes and vistas for the adventurous camper and hiker to enjoy. Unfortunately, everything – the flowers, the deer, even the park official – wants to murder you. Sounds weird and creepy you say?

Oh it is. But also fun! Especially with Ranger Garland Woodburn on the trail. Don’t let the classic Hollywood leading man smile fool you, Woodburn’s passion for nature education and proclivity for horror-homicide struggle to maintain balance in his addled mind.

This 220 page trade paperback pulls from a myriad of real outdoor topics such as hiking, fishing, or toad licking.  And every inch is meticulously researched and designed like a stylish 1950’s field guide written by a guide with questionable knowledge of the field.

As with many Kickstarter campaigns, Scout’s will have exclusives and early-bird tiers rewarding the supporters with unique merchandise. The first 50 backers will receive a SIGNED bookplate by series writer/atist/creator Tyler Jensen!

Retailers will also have the opportunity to participate with certain tiers designed specifically for stores as well!

The launch date is Tuesday April 25th 2023 at 11:00am EST. Scout has already posted the pre-launch page to encourage followers https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scoutcomics/ranger-stranger-volume-one-trade-paperback

Two versions of volume one are being offered along with an exclusive metal cover of issue #1 and many other unique items!

Scout will be announcing future campaigns later this year and plans on a steady schedule of releases through Kickstarter. For more information, please email store@scoutcomics.com.

A Hitman Turned Drag Queen Searches For Her Missing Drag Sister In Scout Comics Upcoming Series DEATH DROP DRAG ASSASSIN!

A Hitman Turned Drag Queen Searches For Her Missing Drag Sister In Scout Comics Upcoming Series DEATH DROP DRAG ASSASSIN!

Logline:
A hitman turned drag queen searches for her missing drag sister as a rash of killings and disappearances spreads across her city’s queer neighborhoods. Death Drop must decide how far she is willing to be pulled back into a life of violence to protect her community in this supernatural queer noir.

Synopsis:

A slew of mysterious disappearances sweeps across the city’s queer districts. The police are unconcerned, and, well, it’s nothing the queer community hasn’t seen again and again. Even for Death Drop, it doesn’t hit home until her drag sister, Lunaira Sun, goes missing.
At the insistence of Mother Henny, her drag mother, Death Drop uses her assassin skills to pick up the scent of the wayward Lunaira. What she finds is a trail of supernaturally disfigured corpses, a leather-clad killer hell-bent on revenge, and an enigmatic queen from Mother Henny’s past. To make matters worse, she can’t shake the feeling that the specter of the assassin mentor she exposed and left for dead years ago is now haunting her every step.
The search for a connection between these seemingly disparate threads will take Death Drop from Mother Henny’s club, Posterior Delusions, through the streets and back-alleys of the gayborhood, to the world beyond. As her past and present collide in a deadly confrontation, Death Drop will be forced to grapple with the idea that escaping from your past and overcoming it are two very different things…

Creator Quotes

David Hazan
Death Drop has been a years-long labor of love to bring to the page the kind of queer comics I always wanted to read. This is a story by queer people, aimed at the struggles queer people face today. Alex brought that to life in a way that only they could, pairing a campy, colorful neo-noir aesthetic perfectly with pulse-pounding action and the book's dark themes. It's uniquely gratifying to bring a story like this to life, highlighting the healing power of drag at a time when the artform is firmly fixed in the public consciousness.
Alex Moore
Death Drop has been an utter dream of a project to work on. Between the charismatic cast of characters, twisting plot and gritty action (not to mention a touch of horror to boot), it’s been a privilege and a pleasure working with David on this queer crime-noir and I’m incredibly grateful they gave me the opportunity to have my debut as an interior artist on this book. Death Drop is more than just genre though; the story squarely takes on so many issues impacting the LGBTQI+ community that, sadly, feel increasingly relevant and it's been an honor to be part of a defiant stand against them.

Creator Quotes & Testimonials:
“‘Count Dante’ does what the best comics do: It builds a myth about a character who seems superhuman. But, the twist here is that this team brilliantly mythologizes one of those weirdos in the tough guy comic book ads from the '70s. It reads almost like Tarantino's slumming it in the comic book world.”

“Wes and I are thrilled to be representing Scout in 2023. We can’t wait to see Count Dante on the shelves, carrying that Scout logo!”

Reviews:

  • "In Unicorn: Vampire Hunter, Caleb Palmquist delivers a tale that is joyful, witty, and a bit heart-wrenching. Daryl Toh's artwork is a charming blend of vibrant characters and fun background details, and the titular unicorn makes one of the best entrances in comics this year. Also, five words for you in these troubling times: 'puppies that never grow old.' Not to be missed!" -Brian Shirmer, Fair Lady (Image)
  •   "Take all the grace of The Last Unicorn and shove it through the heart of a vampire. Fast paced, with art that tells the story beautifully. A comic that hooks you fast, with room to expand. Why we love indie comics." -Miles Greb, Puc the Artist (Scout)

A Blue-Collar Angel Accountant Investigates A Series Of Unexplained Wonders In MIRACLE KINGDOM From SCOUT COMICS!

A Blue-Collar Angel Accountant Investigates A Series Of Unexplained Wonders In MIRACLE KINGDOM From SCOUT COMICS!

Logline:

When a blue-collar angel and his trusty cherub sidekick sniff out a series of unexplained wonders performed by a sham televangelist on Earth, they unwittingly discover a foul plot that suggests Heaven just may be going to Hell in a handbasket!

Synopsis:

Have you ever prayed for something stupid and meaningless, like finding a parking space or getting to work on time?  Or have you ever made a heartfelt plea for a miracle or something life changing?  What if I told you every word is not only heard, but also tallied, approved and debited by an accountant in Heaven?  Welcome to the Department of Divine Intervention, where the outcome of the universe is just another day in the office.  From the mailroom where incoming prayers are sorted, to the courtrooms where the merits of miracles are tirelessly debated – it’s all a perfectly woven system, or at least it’s supposed to be.

In the realm of televised faith healing, nothing makes a televangelist break into nervous sweat quite like a well-meaning accountant ready to audit the church books.  In fact, such a prospect could darn-near scare the red out of the devil!

Meet Lester Benny.  Outrageous on-air personality.  Impassioned pastor.  And to his flock, a savior with a divine gift to cure any disease or curb any ailment.  Assuming, of course, the applicable “charitable” donation has been generously met.

Enter Winston Donovan, a quiet, enigmatic bean counter with a flair for the vintage and little tolerance for chicanery.  When a desperate mother urges Winston to rescue her son from a cultish church, Winston accepts the case and sets off on a mission to expose Lester Benny as a two-bit charlatan.

Oh, but do take care when pulling at threads.  Some answers were hidden by design.  And meant to stay that way.

Creator Quote:

“Things are not always as they appear, especially in this first issue of MIRACLE KINGDOM.  Slightly absurd and playfully self-aware, MIRACLE KINGDOM is a mystery with some big secrets smoldering beneath the surface.  Ultimately, this series is a tongue-in-cheek look at the clandestine systems that impact our lives and considers how these systems can be challenged.

Assembling my very first comic series has truly been an international effort and a satisfying process.  Our team is thrilled to partner with Scout Comics, deftly guided by our Editor, Andrea Lorenzo Molinari, to bring this off-beat story to the public.  We’ve built an interesting mythos and look forward to the readers pulling back the layers to explore it.”
