In a rather unimportant part of the world, a young boy sketches stories his mother used to tell. Stories of how an Aurora in the North used to bring new colors into his black and white world. One day, while drawing a giant tree with his friends Tolo and Asta, a rat burglar comes to steal their work. During the confrontation, Puc stumbles upon some of his father's old belongings, including a jar with “Open when all is dull" written on it. Inside is the last light of the Aurora. It spills onto Puc, and he gains the power to turn himself and the world around him into color.
