SH*TSHOW Is Coming Soon From SCOUT COMICS!

SH*TSHOW Is Coming Soon From SCOUT COMICS!

Years after a mysterious force ripped the powers from the world’s power-enabled heroes (and villains), those left have made the best with what remains, joining together to use their powers as part of a traveling circus.

Meet the Team:

Adam Barnhardt, Writer - debut published comic. Current entertainment journalist for ComicBook.com.

Samir Simao, Pencils/Inks - Descending Outlands (Evil Kat Studios)

Warnia K. Sahadewa, Colors - Wasted Space variant covers (Vault)

LetterSquids, Letters - The Comic Jam, Advent Comics, Insight Editions

The Story…

There was once an Age of Heroes, a time Earth was protected by the demigod hero Legend and his band of heroes called Legend's Legion until one day, the three-headed demon Balam was summoned to the planet. In the ensuing fight, the powers were ripped away from any enabled beings on the planet — heroes and villains, alike. Battered, broken, and losing his entire Legion in the process, Legend was able to cobble together whatever remaining powered beings he could find but by that time, Balam was long gone.

To try coping with an all new world, the heroes banded together to form The Magnificent McCoys, a traveling circus where the performers use their powers to entertain the masses in a time where powers are rare. A god with a dying star for a heart, Legend has taken Balam’s destruction worse than anyone and has since become a crippling alcoholic. Then suddenly one day, Balam returns. Will Legend be able to stay sober long enough to use his powers and end this threat once and for all or will he give up only to doom humanity forever?

From Writer Adam Barnhardt:

First and foremost, I'd like to thank James, Brendan, and the rest of the team at Scout for opening up a slot for Shitshow in the lineup. Judging by the other books the label has to offer, Shitshow has found the perfect home alongside like titles. I'm beyond thrilled to work with the Scout team to see where we can take this book.

COMING THIS JULY FROM SCOUT COMICS. GRIT!

Logline:

When an aging monster hunter comes up against a foe that can’t be felled with the swing of his axe, he’s forced to face the unintended consequences of his brutal style of problem solving. Southern-fried sword and sorcery!

The Team:

Writer - Brian Wickman (Big White)

Artist - Kevin Castaniero (Death Saves Anthology)

Colorist - Simon Gough (Ringside, G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes)

Letterer - Micah Myers (Dead Beats, Youth)

Story Summary:

Old Man Barrow, known best for his sour attitude and his ruthless efficiency, bites off more than he can chew when a routine troll-hunting gig goes awry, landing him in the clutches of a backwoods doomsday cult. Ignorant to the true nature of the malign forces at work, Barrow is forced to team up with Ari, a hot-headed young witch dead set on breaking him of his ultra-violent habits. Swamp hags and goblin gangs be damned, it’ll be a miracle if these unlikely allies can make it through this mess without killing each other!

From Writer Brian Wickman

GRIT is a goofy, pulpy fantasy adventure with a lot of heart, and I’m thrilled to be releasing it with the fine folks at Scout. I have a tremendous fondness for fantasy that lets itself have some fun, and this series is a blood-soaked, goblin-infested love letter to the genre. I’ve had a blast working with this team, and it’s clear on every page just how much fun we’ve had building this world together.

From Artist Kevin Castaniero

Fantasy was something I always admired but never felt like I could quite pull off art-wise until Brian sent me ideas for this little story titled GRIT. I felt at home in that world, like Barrow and I had been buddies for a while; I was just along for the journey. A lot of long nights and early mornings went into this book and I hope it shows. Everyone who touched this story gave it hell and I could not be more proud to be a part of it. Cheers.

COMING THIS JUNE, The Powerful Story of YASMEEN From SCOUT COMICS!

COMING THIS JUNE, The Powerful Story of YASMEEN From SCOUT COMICS!

Logline:

After rejoining her family in America after surviving two years of slavery under the ISIS terrorist regime in Mosul, an Iraqi teenage girl must overcome the horrors of the past in an attempt to find herself again.

Meet the Team:

Created and Written by: Saif A. Ahmed

Artist: Fabiana Mascolo

Letterer: Robin Jones

Script Editor: Travis Czap

The Story…

Split between two times in her life, Yasmeen tells the story of an Iraqi girl who survives slavery in the ISIS terrorist regime in Mosul. Yasmeen was a happy 16-year-old until she was captured by ISIS invading forces and was forced to find the courage within herself to endure slavery. After surviving long two years of slavery, she is freed, but has become a different person. Unable to connect to the things that she loved before, she must go through a different kind of struggle, as she tries to adjust to the normal life with her family as refugees in a foreign country, America.

From creator Saif A Ahmed:

I am honored to join Scout Comic's amazing team of creators. I am also very excited that I will be able to tell a story that gives a real depiction of refugees, showing them as complicated people where I based a lot of the main family's dynamics, clothes and look off my own family and families I know.

This story of a modern tragedy, where a pure force of evil subjected tens of thousands of young women to slavery, is told from the personal point of view of the protagonist, Yasmeen, who represents thousands of real-life brave women who didn't need super powers to be called heroes.

Despite the harsh subject, the focus will not be on the actual violence and sexual assaults, but rather on the aftermath and its influence on the victims.

SCOUT COMICS Proudly Presents SOULSTREAM, A New ALL AGE SCOOT Imprint Title

SCOUT COMICS Proudly Presents SOULSTREAM, A New ALL AGE SCOOT Imprint Title

FROM SCOUT CEO, BRENDAN DENEEN:
As the CEO of a comic book company, I've seen many, many submissions over the years.  I open every single proposed comic book series sent to Scout with excitement... is this one going to be our next big hit? Am I going to fall in love with this one the way I fell in love with Marvel and DC titles back in the 80s when I was a kid? Even when we pass on projects, I'm always impressed with the time and care creators put into their work.
Even further, though, it's not often that I'm genuinely surprised by a submission. But when it DOES happen, it's a pretty great feeling.
Case in point.  SOULSTREAM by Saida Woolf.
It's a superhero comic book with a female protagonist.  It's stylized and cool.  It feels fresh and original.
Oh, and it was written and drawn by a fifteen year old.
That's no typo.  Saida is a high school student with talent to spare.  On top of being a... you know.. full time student, she also creates comics and came in first place in her 7th grade science fair, beating over 700 other entrants.
It's a privilege to announce SOULSTREAM and I'm proud that Scout gets to be the publisher who introduces Saida to the world.  When she's writing and drawing Black Widow and Wonder Woman in the future... when  SOULSTREAM ends up as the #1 new animated streaming show in the world... I'll look back and remember that feeling when I first opened the PDF that Saida sent to us.

Coming to Scout Comics in late 2020, SWEETDOWNFALL!

Coming to Scout Comics in late 2020, SWEETDOWNFALL!

Logline...
When a ruthless crash test dummy turned hitman falls in love with a mermaid meant for his boss, the chase is on as he tries to save her life.

Created by Artist/Writer Stefano Cardoselli (Heavy Metal Magazine, 2000 AD, Planet Caravan).

The Story...

Jonny is an old-model crash test dummy who’s been repurposed as a hitman for the Don Vito Coriaci of sprawling ocean bound city-state Santa Clara City. Jonny loyal and follows orders to the T, until his latest mission – when he’s tasked with bringing in a mermaid, a delicacy with healing properties When Johnny falls in love with the mermaid and decides to save her, the chase is on through crumbling skyscrapers and colossal cyber-angel statues – in a hailstorm of lead, breathtaking pursuits, and Mexican standoffs.

From Creator Stefano Cardoselli:

I'm a fan of Martin Scorsese's films and in particular of the movie, Goodfellas. I can't say that it wasn’t the engine of inspiration when I started writing and drawing Sweetdownfall. It's part of the cake batter of rusty cyperpunk and action movie that makes this series so special to me. I love that Scout Comics gives me the possibility to create freely!

COMING SOON FROM SCOUT COMICS, CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE!

COMING SOON FROM SCOUT COMICS, CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE!

Amidst the tranquility of a new earth, a boy uncovers an extra-terrestrial mystery that exposes not only the destruction of the world that came before, but the imminent demise of his own.

The Team...

From Writers Samuel J. Romesburg (Among the Willows,) Ben Roberts and artist Gioele Fillipo.

The Story…

Thirty years into the future, earth as we know it has been reset. The new age of humanity is about to enter its third decade. These new humans lead blissful lives unaware of the issues that plagued the world before them. Inhabiting the land known only as “Terra,” all of their needs are provided for by forces they do not know or understand. Bountiful crops seemingly grow themselves while electricity and running water systems remain miraculously intact and maintained without any human contact. All of this is credited to what the new humans have coined as “The Providers” - a divine and watchful entity, and the source from which all humans are created. Humans arrive on Terra as infants with no memory or sense of blood-bound family. On Terra, the humans are all children of the providers, and they live their lives accordingly. There is no hardship, no pain or suffering, and above all else - a mutual understanding that there is no questioning of any of it. All of Terra’s children abide by this code - except for one.

Daniel is the exception to the new world. Driven by angst and starved for answers, He has spent his life on Terra challenging the status quo and demanding more than what he has been shown. His days are spent searching for remnants of the old world, constantly piecing together a puzzle no one else cares exists. Armed with unfaltering determination and a hatred for complacency, Daniel sets out to leave the people of Terra behind in search for a life of Truth - however, the truth he uncovers reveals that there was never a chance of life at all. An evil is looming, and humanity is doomed to disappear once again.

From writers Sam Romesburg and Ben Roberts:

Children of The Grave starts as a slow burn mystery, but once that mystery is let loose the action erupts and violence takes over. Scout is the ideal home for Children of the Grave. This story is gritty and harsh and needs to be told as such. Scout has given us a platform to do so as we see fit and make this story exactly what we feel like it needs to be.

COMICS PRO 2020 ASHCAN PREVIEW

SCOUT COMICS IS PROUD TO INTRODUCE, MULLET COP!

SCOUT COMICS IS PROUD TO INTRODUCE, MULLET COP!

Using the cover of an all-you-can-eat buffet manager, a mall cop and his trusty microwave/supercomputer take on gangs in a futuristic mall.

Meet the Team:

Mullet Cop hails from writer/artist Tom Lintern of Girrion.

The Story…

FRED is a mall cop, but after a near death experience, he’s going undercover at as the manager an all-you-can-eat buffet. With the help of his coworkers and a supercomputer/microwave called M.I.T.T. (MALL INDUSTRIES TWO THOUSAND), Fred takes on gangs and corporate thugs, in an episodic series of adventures!

From creator Tom Lintern:

This story is completely different from anything I’ve worked on before— the art style, the tone, everything. Initially, it started with a conversation about moms in the 80’s and 90’s who went power walking in their nylon jumpsuits. I thought it would be funny to make a story about them being in a gang. Well, that’s how it started and now it’s turned into this. I honestly didn’t know how Scout would react when I submitted it but I was thrilled to hear they were interested in the project. I’m very excited to be working with them again!
