New Horror Series RABID WORLD Is Coming Soon From Scout Comics!

When an outbreak of a rabies-like virus devastates the world, it’s a fight for survival in a world gone mad. Two couples set off on disparate courses, one for survival and one to save the world.

The Team…

From Writer Todd Cinani and Artist Oleg Okunev (Pestilence, Wakanda Forever).

The Story…

It was like any other morning, until it wasn’t. Growing from the rural areas, it was a simple dog bite, but the end of the day…civilization was collapsing. The outbreak left people rabid, devoid of their humanity, left only with a violent rage.

With the world in shambles, a group of friends must try to weather the storm and survive. While one couple works to find a vaccine at a long-forgotten bio-weapons research facility, the other flees by sailboat in search of salvation from the perils of a new chaotic existence.

Will a vaccine be found? Will the survivors make it to a safe place to hole up? Find out in Rabid World!

From Writer Todd Cinani:

We are very excited to be working with Scout. I have read and loved many Scout comics such as Smoke Town and the brilliant Solar Flare, so I decided on a Hail Mary pass, and submitted our end-of-the-world epic to them.

CODE 45 Is A Five Issue Series Coming In 2021 From Scout Comics!

CODE 45 Is A Five Issue Series Coming In 2021 From Scout Comics!

Code 45 is a 5-issue graphic novel about Vanessa, a subway driver in Montreal who hears rumors that there are 'dragons' in the tunnels, monstrous apparitions that seemingly defy any explanation.

Her co-workers are terrified of working nights because of what they've seen, and so a large number of them self-medicate to get through their shifts without giving in to fear and anxiety. Gradually, the hallucinations brought on by their drug use have made it impossible for them to tell fact from fantasy.

Vanessa is transferred to the night shift and falls slowly into both this world and, thanks to her DJ roommate, the underground rave scene. The mysterious apparitions and malevolent monsters may or may not be real, but the blaring 'CODE 45' alert signaling another inexplicable encounter certainly is.

Dragons, drugs, and hardcore beats on subterranean dancefloors blend into a parallel reality as Vanessa struggles to uncover the truths buried beneath the city streets and confronts a shocking secret from her family's own past.

Meet the Team

Artist Joe Ng's first comics job was drawing Transformers for the Toronto-based company Dreamwave Productions. After that, he was picked up by Udon Entertainment to work on a Transformers / G.I. Joe crossover book published by Devil's Due Publishing. He is best known for his work on the Udon Street Fighter comics but has also worked on many other video game properties such as Soul Caliber, Dark Stalkers, Nintendo's ARMS, and Overwatch.

Writer Benjamin Hunting is a full-time freelancer who over the last decade has been published in the New York Daily News, Motor Trend, Super Street, Toronto Star, and National Post, as well as numerous other magazines and online publications. He has also self-published a literary novel. This is his first graphic novel.

Graphic Design / Letterer Angela Hodge started her career as a children’s book illustrator for Cornucopia Books before her foray into graphic design. After a period of paying her dues as a lowly layout artist, she stumbled into 3D modeling and now enjoys a challenging career as a physical product designer.

Colorist Josh Perez has been in the comic industry since 2003, and has worked with a lot of the  franchises he's grew up with as a kid. He has not only done work for comics (IDW, Dreamwave, Fun Publications), but cartoons, toys, and the odd video game or two. He is mostly known for his work on with the Transformers, Street Fighter, and Mega Man licenses.

More about Code 45

'Code 45' is aimed at fans of urban fantasy, but it also speaks to the experience of those who have dealt with depression and obsession, and how mental illness is pervasive and all too often ignored by society. It addresses the theme of mental health by questioning the perception of reality, casting aside the notion that each individual shares the same common experience. In this way, it stands apart from other comic book treatments of mental illness by intertwining fantasy, hallucination, and drug use in a way that asks the reader to make their own judgment about the truth of what is presented on the page.

"Using fantasy as a bridge to discussing not just the questions of subjective reality and how we perceive the world around us, but also to broach the topics of depression and mental illness, and how that impacts both individuals and society, is something very personal to me," says writer Benjamin Hunting.

This group turns out to be a strange religious sect led by a certain Ford, a fanatical racist and former guerrilla. Max, living in this coven with his mother, will discover that Ford is convinced that this biblical-style plague will only be alleviated if the impure—homosexuals, foreigners and disabled people—are sacrificed. Ford's daughter, born from incest, is a disabled child and Ford wants to offer her as a sacrifice to assuage the plague.

Max, realizing what is about to happen in the fierce community, saves the little girl named Stella. In the escape, her mother is killed and the two try in every way to leave the city. Meanwhile, Ford and his men hunt him down like animals, intending to take back his little child as a sacrificial lamb.

Max and Stella's journey will be an absurd apocalypse, with loved ones turning into horrendous creatures and the rampant violence of a humanity that is increasingly nearer to total collapse.”

Why Scout?

"Scout Comics is my first publisher in the United States, the first publisher who gave a 24-year-old Italian writer the chance to fulfill his dream of publishing in America. It's been almost 10 years since that time, while I have created many comics, one among many being Locust...  In Locust, I put all the hard work and experience accumulated trying to create something that surpasses myself and I wanted to give this kind of work to Scout Comics, because it is my refuge overseas. My first real publishing family.”

Scout Comics Proudly Presents ORSON WELLES: WARRIOR OF THE WORLDS!

Logline:

"Orson Welles: Warrior of the Worlds" is a comic/graphic novel series about Orson Welles and his secret life defending Earth from aliens.

CREATORS

Writer: Milton Lawson.

Credits: Thompson Heller: Detective Interstellar, Roger Ebert and Me.

Artist: Erik Whalen.

Credits: Spirit Drifters, Dis Connect.

SYNOPSIS

“Orson Welles: Warrior of the Worlds” is a graphic novel series with the premise that Orson Welles's legendary “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast was not a prank: an alien invasion really happened. After Welles's first interaction with aliens, he joins an organization that defends Earth from extraterrestrial threats and lives a double life as a film director by day, alien-hunter by night.

The structure of the story is inspired by “Citizen Kane.” When Orson Welles dies, he leaves Paula, a lifelong friend and filmmaking collaborator, a clue that leads her to search for answers to many mysteries Welles left behind. She soon finds herself in over her head - amidst secret government agents, laser guns, and powerful alien technology. Her curiosity puts her on an irresistible path to adventure. Film lovers will find several easter eggs and Welles aficionados will notice thematic parallels between our alien-hunting warrior and the maverick film director.

METALSHARK BRO and CANOPUS are comic titles that have inspired me with their inventiveness and ability to use the comics medium to tell imaginative, original stories." -Milton Lawson

SH*TSHOW Is Coming Soon From SCOUT COMICS!

Meet the Team:

Adam Barnhardt, Writer - debut published comic. Current entertainment journalist for ComicBook.com.

The Story…

There was once an Age of Heroes, a time Earth was protected by the demigod hero Legend and his band of heroes called Legend's Legion until one day, the three-headed demon Balam was summoned to the planet. In the ensuing fight, the powers were ripped away from any enabled beings on the planet — heroes and villains, alike. Battered, broken, and losing his entire Legion in the process, Legend was able to cobble together whatever remaining powered beings he could find but by that time, Balam was long gone.

To try coping with an all new world, the heroes banded together to form The Magnificent McCoys, a traveling circus where the performers use their powers to entertain the masses in a time where powers are rare. A god with a dying star for a heart, Legend has taken Balam’s destruction worse than anyone and has since become a crippling alcoholic. Then suddenly one day, Balam returns. Will Legend be able to stay sober long enough to use his powers and end this threat once and for all or will he give up only to doom humanity forever?

From Writer Adam Barnhardt:

First and foremost, I'd like to thank James, Brendan, and the rest of the team at Scout for opening up a slot for Shitshow in the lineup. Judging by the other books the label has to offer, Shitshow has found the perfect home alongside like titles. I'm beyond thrilled to work with the Scout team to see where we can take this book.
