Logline:

The devil has been destroyed and bequeathed Hell to his son, Francis Rhoades, who now needs to travel down below to accept the throne. But when Satan includes a clause that says anyone from Hell can usurp the throne by killing his replacement, Francis is in for a hellish nightmare that includes the likes of Adolf Hitler, Attila the Hun, Vlad the Impaler, and many more of the worst the world had to offer.

Synopsis:

A dark comedy filled with action, adventure, and the worst the world had to offer, Road Trip to Hell follows Francis Rhoades, a young man with the ability to see horrible things in a person's future just by touching them. His life has been full of hardship, but things get even worse when the demon Baphomet informs him that his father is Satan and he’s been destroyed. Now, Francis has been designated the new king of Hell. The catch? All the damned have escaped, and if one of them can kill Francis before he can reach the netherworld himself, that soul will become the new leader of Hell! With the help of his sister Star and his literal guardian angel Joan of Arc, Francis needs to survive his trip to hell... hopefully without losing his own soul in the process!

Quote & Review:
“I’ve been working with Scout Comics behind the scenes for a while now. I can tell they really care about their comics and the people pouring their blood, sweat, and geekiness into them, so I knew they would be the right publisher for Road Trip to Hell. I’m looking forward to seeing just how far this road trip will go with Scout!” - Nicole D'Andria

"This is the kind of story I wish I would’ve come up with first… then I realize I couldn’t have pulled it off this good!" —Shawn Gabborin (Black BettyPuppet Master)

“Son of a…Devil? Rather, son of THE Devil. Road Trip to Hell is a great first comic from Nicole D'Andria. Marco Maccagni, Joaquin Pereyra, and Justin Birch compliment the witty writing and hairpin plot twists. Definitely pick this one up.” —Erica Schultz (Xena, Twelve Devils Dancing

Road Trip to Hell is a wild, clever, inventive ride, mixing memorable, original characters that you root for and historical figures that you long to see finally get what they deserve. With the return of villains we thought we'd seen the last of, this story is timely and timeless. To find out what happens in this series, I will gladly go to hell!”—Jennie Wood (Flutter

“I really enjoyed it. Good, clean premise. Deep characters. The art works nicely. And I love that the whole thing has a Buffy-esque swagger to it.”—Rylend Grant (Aberrant, Banjax

Road Trip to Hell is an impressive debut that reminds me a bit of the tragically short-lived TV show, Reaper. It has that same vein of dark humor and deals with just as much of the supernatural. This book sets itself out, pulling from a number of fun aspects of the Bible and history.”—James Ferguson (

Quote & Review:
"GHOST PLANET is a classic sci-fi tale with a body-horror twist. Artist Sean Von Gorman has beautifully rendered every tentacle and alien spore, opting for a pop art palette that is both emotional and artsy. Meanwhile, the story explores the most primal of human relationships and fears. Death is biology. Hope is a ghost. I think this story really packs a wallop, and I’m pleased as a punch-bot that Scout Comics has taken a chance on our futuristic, sci-fi horror tale.” — Jeffrey Burandt

“Ghost Planet is a terrifying science fiction nightmare. I loved it. When I finished the book all I wanted to know was what happens next.” - Chris Miskiewicz (Grateful Dead Origins/This Is Where We Fall)“

Jeffrey Burandt and Sean Von Gorman's GHOST PLANET is like a mash-up of LOST IN SPACE and BLACK MIRROR. A spooky synthesis of hope and horror.
--Dean Haspiel (The Red Hook, Billy Dogma)

Mike Allred: “Very cool! Big fun!”

Alex Widen, Adult Mutant Review Guy: “Burandt’s story is compelling, well scripted and expertly paced. Von Gorman’s artwork mixes all the elements together into a tale which is always suspenseful and appropriately shocking.”

“I love horror anthologies. Whether it’s E.C. horror comics, The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror, or countless others, they always suck me in. The short stories coupled with the variety of characters and situations are a perfect fit for my short attention span. Pulp Bytes is my own take on the sub-genre…It’s what happens when you take all of my influences, fears, and what-ifs, shake them up in my head, and spit them onto paper. I’ve been wanting to do this project for a long time, and I’ve found the perfect home for it at Scout Comics.”

Quote from writer Mario Canelaria:

"The idea of Killchella was born in the desert, just outside of Los Angeles. There's something primal out in that terrain that washed over me at a time when creatively I was at my lowest point. I thought on the people who come out there for spiritual healing, and the people who left big city life behind to live in the shadow of Mount San Jacinto. There's a lot of positivity to be found out there, but what if all those good vibes flipped the wrong switch in someone? What if someone like an influential celebrity got the message wrong, and then used their following of rabid fans to spread a twisted message of love and warmth onto an unsuspecting crowd?"

Summary

The elusive creatures of mud and blood known as the dokkaebi live just off of Route 4 in east Texas, in the ancient pine forest known as the Tanglechase. Joon-Ho, a Korean immigrant with a shadowy past, and his estranged grandson Jae-Sun, a disillusioned small-time thug, are the only people in the nearby town of Vane who know the true nature of the dokkaebi. Together, they must figure out what’s causing the creatures to turn hostile. Perhaps it has something to do with the interdimensional portal at the heart of the Tanglechase, for it is from here that the past comes knocking, demanding a reckoning from both men.

QUOTE FROM THE WRITER/CREATOR Frank Kim

“Most people outside Texas don’t realize the tremendous natural beauty of the state. It’s not all deserts and tumbleweeds, as most movies would have you believe. There’s a beautiful old-growth pine forest in the eastern end of the state and, as someone who grew up there, this is my attempt to set the record straight. Korean mythology is rich with intrepid swordsmen who wander the wilderness going from one adventure to another, much like classic Western stories of the mysterious gunslinger. So this here is my fusion of two cultures that seem disparate on the surface but have a lot in common underneath: a modern Western with swords, magic, monstrous villains, and Love that transcends space and time. Hopefully people enjoy reading it as much as I did in dreaming it up.”

Scout Comics Affiliate Comic Tags Partners With Scenarex To Create New NFT/Digital Comic/Collectable Card

Scout Comics Affiliate Comic Tags Partners With Scenarex  To Create New NFT/Digital Comic/Collectable Card

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

JULY 20, 2022 (SAN DIEGO, CA) — COMIC TAGS, the hybrid collectible that combines digital comic books and trading cards, launched a little over a year ago with a slate of title releases from its affiliate company SCOUT COMICS & ENTERTAINMENT HOLDINGS, INC. For the past year, both companies have been working with SCENAREX to develop a NEW Comic Tag collectible that will now include Bookchain® NFT technology. This version of Comic Tag will allow comic creators to share in the resale value of their comics in perpetuity. Imagine if Siegel and Schuster got a piece of every resale of Action Comics #1 or Stan Lee's estate always got a piece of the resale of Amazing Fantasy #15? This new product will launch at the 2022 San Diego Comic Con.

This partnership expands the core Comic Tag product from a collectible card with digital download to include a full NFT offering.  Comic Tags with NFTs offer collectors more than a card or ability to read their comic book online, it offers them a permanent piece of their favorite comics. Both NFT and non-NFT Comic Tags will be available options to both creators and fans alike!

Popular SCOUT COMICS' titles STABBITY BUNNY, THE MALL & THE SOURCE will be the first titles offered. This will be released exclusively at SDCC and on the WhatNot app.

Each graphic novel/card/NFT will have four different versions with varying card styles and print runs. They will be categorized by the following classifications: COMMON (1,000), RARE (100), EPIC (10) & LEGENDARY (1).

“We are eager and excited to collaborate with a literature blockchain technology solutions provider such as SCENAREX and showcase their services to our collector base,” said James Haick, III, Founder and President of COMIC TAGS.  “This strategic partnership will enable us to further offer more value to our existing customers and allow many of them a first step into collecting NFTs in this fast-growing new arena.“

SCENAREX created Bookchain® using blockchain technology because of its flexibility, its transparency and its security. They strongly believe in making digital rights solutions available to everyone.  To address environmental concerns with cryptocurrency and blockchain creation of NFTs, SCENAREX creates their NFTs with Proof of Stake rather than Proof of Work.  Further, SCENAREX makes NFT ownership more accessible to everyone by permitting purchases with traditional payment types.

NFTs being attached to this collectible allows for creators to always share in the resale of their creation.  This blockchain technology allows COMIC TAGS publishers and creators to create a paradigm where every time their book is resold in the collector market they get a piece of the transaction. It's residual income for creators and ensures that future value is shared with both the creators, the publishers and the collectors.

"This is a new way to collect comic books — one that is both nostalgic and future proof and will allow new generations to not only read and collect comics in a new way, but also potentially bring classic titles back to a new audience. We look forward to expanding this new product line to more publishers and more titles," said Lesa Miller, Comic Tags CEO.

COMIC TAGS has a new slate of titles planned from other comic publishers that will launch in early 2023.

For additional press queries, please contact Don’t Hide Publicity, Melissa Meszaros: melissa@donthidepr.com.

SCENAREX is a Montreal-based start-up founded in 2015, born out of a passion for literature, sharing and technology. Their focus is on using blockchain technology to create flexible, user-friendly, non-restrictive solutions that will benefit the evolution and development of the digital publishing industry.  For more information, please visit www.Scenarex.ca
COMIC TAGS was founded to offer avid comic book collectors a win-win by combining a truly collectible product that is also practical in that it provides collectors with a digital library of their titles.  Adding the NFT component makes our product win-win-win.  Visit ComicTags.com to learn more.

Our mission at Scout Comics and Entertainment is to guide you through the vast world of multimedia, discovering exceptional talent and epic stories that will inspire you to explore with us. We develop and publish creator-owned comics. KNOCKTURN COUNTY (The Adult Crime Noir Set In A Classic Children’s Book Universe) Is Coming This Fall From SCOUT COMICS!

Writer: James E. Roche (Wretches)
Colorist: Sean Callahan (Junior, Stray, Loco Hero)

Knockturn County is an adult crime noir set in a classic children’s book universe. Various tales converge and collide in this county built on crime, as a rhyming narrative leads readers through a tangled web of death, booze, drugs, and betrayal. Good doesn't always win, bad doesn't always pay, and, in true noir fashion, people always die.

This debut issue follows an obsessed detective who puts his badge aside to hunt for his missing ex, and a little girl in the scariest place of all: her home.

More Release Info & Creator Quotes:

"The entire creative team has been together on Knockturn County since its inception in 2018! It suffered several hiccups along the way, but the team wanted to tell this rhyming, dark, unique crime noir tale, no matter what it took. That includes Scout Comics’ President, James Haick, who had been interested in the idea since New York Comic Con 2018. With him supporting the title for as long as he did, it was a no brainer that we team up with the folks at Scout, who have pumping out some of the greatest creator owned comics around."

  • James E. Roche - Writer

"Everything about Knockturn County was a great fit for me because I LOVE crime novels and movies from the 1940's-50's. I even rewatched John Huston and Hitchcock movies while working on the book. I had also worked as an animator on kid’s shows for Ánima Estudios and Cartoon Network, so the mix of genres in Knockturn County was super interesting and fun for me."
  • Axur Eneas - Artist
Reviews/Testimonials:

"…A clever and dark comedic spin on classic rhyming storytelling. My face is red, your face will be too, from enjoying Knockturn County -- a rhyming comic book breakthrough!" - Heather Antos (Senior Editor IDW)

“With a touch of Seuss and a bump of outright derangement, James E. Roche and Axur Eneas deliver a comic book like none other on shelves with KNOCKTURN COUNTY. Dark and satirical, this comic hypnotizes you into a sense of tense unease with whimsical art and lyrical writing that exposes the most chilling aspects of humanity.” - Pat Shand, Destiny NY, Azza The Barbed

Scout Comics & Entertainment was founded in 2015 and has over 250 titles in their catalog. Scout properties have sold to Disney, Amazon Studios, FilmNation, State Street, and Rooster Teeth, among others.
